Sign Language

Until a few years ago, the deaf community in many parts of the world was unreached with the Gospel. Even if scripture was translated into the language of the hearing community around them, the deaf speak a completely different language: sign language.

Wycliffe/SIL official recognizes about 120 languages but in the future those numbers could jump to 400 sign languages world wide. To translate the Bible means to video the Bible being signed into each language. Bev Staley has done extensive research on sign languages around the globe and works on signed translations.
