Auditions for Spring Play
The Miracle Worker by William Gibson
Performance dates and Times: April 28th at 2pm and 29th at 6pm
Audition Date: Saturday Feb 4th
Time: Children at 4pm, Adults at 5pm
Place: Choir Room
What to expect at auditions: Will do readings from the play and some improv for children.
Rehearsals: Start Feb 10th. Friday nights from 7-9:30 and Sunday afternoons from 2-5:30.

LEADS:
Anne Sullivan: Helen Keller’s teacher, 20yrs, stubborn, tough, sharp, opinionated, speaks her mind. Very physical role. Lots of lines and action. Slight Irish accent possible.
Helen Keller: Blind, deaf, mute, 7-10yrs, stubborn, smart, and sassy. Very physical role. No lines but a lot of action to memorize and emotion to express.
Kate Keller: Helen’s mother 20-late 30’s. Caring, gentle. Loves and cares for Helen. Married to strong willed husband. Knows how to be quiet but strong. Southern Alabama Accent possible
Captain Keller: Helen’s father, 35 -50’s. Strong willed, take charge, no nonsense man. Rough and opinionated. Southern Alabama Accent possible
James Keller: Young man, 18-25, opinionated, cocky. Feels rejected by father and trouble dealing with being a step son to his young wife. Seeking fathers approval but doesn’t get it. Underlying anger. Southern Alabama Accent possible
SMALLER PARTS:
Aunt Ev: 40s-70 yrs, gives advice about Helen’s schooling. Cares for Helen but somewhat afraid of her and doesn’t know how to help her.
Viney: female. Age 20-60 Servant to Kellers. Strong southern accent.
Doctor: Male, 20-80’s. Helen’s baby Doctor. One scene.
Mr. Anagnos: Stocky bearded man in 40-50yrs. Greek Accent possible, Teacher to Anne Sullivan. Helps her get job with Helen. Give advice to her before she leaves school. One Scene
SMALL CHILDREN’S ROLES:
6-8 Blind School Students: Ages 6-17 male and female. Blind, kind. They love Anne. One scene, saying goodbye to Anne as she leaves to teach Helen. One scene.
Martha: female, age 8-11, servant’s child. Strong southern accent. Two scenes
Percy: Male, age 8-11, servant’s child. Strong southern accent. Three scenes
