What do you do at Calvary?
My ministry here at Calvary Church includes the areas of Senior Adults, Sunday Morning LifeGroups, Men’s and Athletics.
How did you come to Calvary and how long have you been here?
I started coming to calvary when I was in 5th grade.
What is your educational background and training?
I attended Biola, graduating in 1974; then went to Talbot, graduating in 1987.
Where were you born and raised?
I was born in Westchester, CA (near LAX) and was raised there up to age ten. In 1961, my parents moved from there down to Santa Ana, and we began attending Calvary.
Tell us about your family...
Leslie and I were married December 11, 1976. We have five great kids, Joshua and his wife, Amy, Lindsey, Katelyn, and Micah.
Tell us how you "popped the question," or how it was popped to you.
In 1976, I was a college counselor for the high school camp @ Hume. Leslie Johnson was up there that week also. After the evening meeting on Friday, which was decision night, I took Leslie out on a boat and in the middle of the lake, I asked her to be my wife.
What is your favorite memory from your time at Calvary Church?
I would have to say that watching new ministries @ Calvary start, grow and spiritually reproduce is my favorite memory of Calvary Church.
Who have been the biggest spiritual influencers in your life?
The biggest influences on my life are my Mother, Ruth Sherman, Bill Bynum (1960’s Calvary church Choir Director) and Sam Talbert (1966-1992 Calvary Youth Pastor).
Favorite place you’ve been in the world and where do you want to go next?
My favorite places that I have been in the world are Germany, Austria and Switzerland. I would love to go to Tennessee and Kentucky for the 450 mile garage sale.
When I can't be found at Calvary, I can be found...
When I’m not at Calvary, I can be found @ my house on Santa Clara – involved in the rebuilding process.
Hidden Talent?
My hidden talents are playing the trombone, piano and comb.
What do you count as the greatest invention of the last 100 years?
The greatest invention of the last 100 years would be the telephone and cell phone.
On what reality show would you most want to be a contestant?
Reality Show: Future season of Survivor with the theme: “Miscellaneous Pastors from throughout the World Attempting to Do Simple Church.”
