Thanksgiving Offering
Dear Calvary Family,
Our current message theme is Rooted on the book of Colossians. When a healthy orange tree is deeply rooted in rich soil, it bears much fruit. My prayer is that we are all bearing “fruit” as we connect with God and others to grow in our faith so that we can reach Orange County and the world for Jesus Christ. My thanks to the many of you who participate with us in the ministries at Calvary Church.
Paul calls for us to be “bearing fruit in every good work” (Colossians 1:10) and one kind of fruit is our finances (Romans 15:25-28). This year we will again receive a special “above and beyond” offering to support the works of ministries where our Lord is working. Please read on about the REACH:Global and Local ministries we want to support with this special offering. Let this be an outward expression of our thankful hearts and the fruit in our lives.
Locally, your gift will support the Orange County Youth Commission which provides after school Bible clubs to over 700 public school students in Santa Ana. OCYC also runs the Santa Ana Boxing Club, ministering there to about 70 teens per day. The OCYC has been a Calvary Church REACH:Local partner since 2010.
Today, around 12 million people face severe malnutrition in the Horn of Africa. Globally, your gift will support Global Aid Network (GAIN - a ministry of Campus Crusade) in providing 70,000 meals; enough to feed a refugee camp of 500 for a week. Not only will GAIN deliver aid to those in need, but they will couple the delivery with sharing Christ. Besides bringing physical help to those who desperately need it, your gift establishes the personal relationship it takes to share the gospel and the chance for eternal life.
Each week our Elders and I pray for many of you who are struggling in this economy. I am aware of the many challenges some of you face, but as the Lord has provided for you, please give what you are able for these important ministries. 100% of all we receive will be divided between these two causes.
Be sure to join us Thanksgiving Day, November 24, at 10:00 am in Samsvick Chapel as we worship, give thanks to the Lord and share in testimony. On the following Sunday, November 27, we invite you for a One Service Sunday at 9:30 am in the Worship Center.
I remain thankful for each of you, your service and participation in the great work of Christ here at Calvary Church, as well as our surrounding community and world. May we each continue to bear fruit for Him.
