Thank you to all of our amazing sponsors who are donating stuff to make this year's Flight School VBS awesome!
Lyon Air Museum - We're grateful to the Lyon Air Museum located right next to the John Wayne airport in Santa Ana. All of our videos that your kids will see during our Craft rotation were filmed at the Lyon Air Museum. This is definitely a place you'll want to bring your family to this summer. Lyon Air Museum has on exhibit some of the rarest operational aircraft and vehicles one will find anywhere. Docent led tours take visitors for a walk through history as they stroll among the machines and artifacts that helped define the 20th century. This online section highlights the main exhibits at Lyon Air Museum.
Stan Vosburg Aviation Art - Believe it or not, Stan is one of our own from Calvary Church! When we found out that he specializes in painting 1940's aviation we asked if we could use some of his artwork in our decoration for our Flight School theme. Stan has been more than willing and very helpful in allowing us to use his images throughout our different VBS venues. His artwork portrays a nostalgic look at the individuals and the aircraft they manufactured on the home front during World War II. Encouraged by his family and friends, Vosburg began producing and marketing limited-edition lithographs of his paintings. You can click the link above to see some of Stan's work.
Wings Of Faith Ministries -
This is a non-profit, evangelistic charity centered around Missionary Aviation, that for more than 30 years has utilized light aircraft and ground vehicles to further the Kingdom of God's grace, love, mercy and compassion in the lives of those who are in need. We filmed all of our opening video sequences here and they even took us up a few times in a Cessna 206 for day five's shoot. Incredible ministry with some hangars at the Corona airport. Flight Deck - Flightdeck Air Combat Center (Anaheim, CA) is an authentic military flight simulation center providing everybody the chance to pilot a fighter jet flight simulator. They are opening up a special area this summer for kids ages 7-12 and it is perfect for birthday parties. We filmed our day two sequence here and we all felt like kids in a candy store.
Pacific Coast Skydiving - We went down to San Diego to film our skydiving scene for the VBS video. These guys were awesome and definitely one of the safest companies out there. Check out a sneak preview video of our own Pastor Eric "Wakebird" Wakeling taking the jump - WATCH THE VIDEO
Kids Around The World - This is an amazing ministry that Calvary partnered with when we packaged 50,000 meals for Haiti. They not only send meals all over the world, but they build playgrounds for kids as well. We love their focus on children and making sure that the least of these are fed and cared for.
Potter's House, Guatemala -
In the heart of Guatemala City is the largest dump in Latin America. More than 11,000 people live and work in and near the dump, and nearly 6,500 of them are children. Even by other Guatemalans, they are treated as little better than the garbage that shapes their existence, which in turn leads them to believe that they are the refuse of the world.
Potter's House Association is a Christian non-profit organization that exists to change the living situation for these thousands, because they are human beings, beloved children of the one true God, worthy of respect and dignity. We will be sending 10,000 meals, packed by our kids at VBS, to this organization. Pastor Matt Davis and Ryan Roehl went to this ministry and to this dump in Guatemala in April 2011 and captured on video the lives of these people.
